BPS Artist in Residence at The Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Boston

In the fall of 2012 Christos received a public art commission from the Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Boston, to create a permanent outdoor mosaic mural for a small park area along Oak Street in Downtown Boston.

In conjunction with this commission, he offered to do most of the work on-site at the school so students (from all grade levels) could observe and learn about the entire mosaic creation process. The project was completed in 2013 and titled “The Living Seasons”. It’s permanently installed on a wall by a small park/garden along Oak St. between Tremont St. and Washington St. in Chinatown just across from the Chinatown YMCA and Tufts Medical Center Orange Line MBTA Station.

Following the completion of this project, he was awarded a teaching grant through the Boston Public Schools Arts Expansion Initiative and Edvestors for 2014, 2015, & 2016.

He provided regular instruction in Art and Art History to the 4th & 5th grade students at The Josiah Quincy School as an artist in residence while also creating permanent public art projects for the school, involving the students.
